What is the first thing that comes to your mind whenever you hear the word “FITNESS”. Pretty sure being skinny is the first thought that crosses your mind.
But wait! Don’t confuse yourself for being SKINNY as being SLIM.Everyone around is rushing to dieticians or wellness coaches for weight loss, unaware of their actual goals.
A SKINNY BODY DOESN’T MEAN YOU ARE IN SHAPE
Well you decide, Is it better to be thin without a build, or a bit overweight, yet fit?
While the common misconception nowadays in the market is that being thin is healthier than being overweight. Do you believe that? If yes then you belong to the same herd as this is a big MYTH. People can be skinny on the outside, and potentially ‘fat’ on the inside. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, 1 in 4 skinny people are plagued with pre-diabetes (and often those who don’t even know it.
Most of the people have a mindset that they can lose weight by starving. Starvation is not a correct way to lose weight. It’s not a long-term thing. Also, it will deprive your body of the essential nutrients and make you feel low, dull and dizzy.
Your ultimate goal should be: “Be Fit, not skinny; Be wise, not foolish.”
Here are Some common myths that generally people tend to believe regarding Weight Loss:
I will go completely on a fruit diet
Even fruits provide you with calories and the fruit sugar i.e. fructose. Going completely on a fruit diet for a few days may raise your potassium levels too. Fruits are rich in essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They should be added in moderation to provide bulk to your diet.
Healthy food is always expensive
Skip dinner to lose weight fast
A big NO for this. Never skip any of your meals. Instead have light dinners which are low in carbs and fats, high in proteins. Also, give at least 2-3 hours of break when having dinner and Sleeping at night.
Diet food means only salads
Being on diet doesn’t mean just munching on salads or fruits for the whole day. You have a long list of foods that you can have. A few to mention are oats, poha, tandoori chicken or paneer, daal or its cheelas and fruit smoothies too. Avoid High-calorie foods which come with no or little nutrition
Diet or weight loss friendly foods or healthy foods all lie there in your kitchen or they are growing around you. You just need to put on your food detective glasses. Eat local and seasonal foods. Eating avocados, quinoa, etc is not the only way out to lose weight.
